About This Spot

Stepping into Trap Restaurant feels like entering a well-worn neighborhood refuge—a laid-back bar & grill where time moves just a little slower and the everyday noise fades into the background. The exterior might catch you off guard with its modest, slightly faded appearance, but once inside, the space opens up with a relaxed, easygoing vibe. It’s the kind of place where strangers nod hello and the hum of conversations blends effortlessly with familiar tunes, especially as evening brings karaoke nights that fill the room with playful energy.

Trap’s atmosphere rides the line between a classic dive bar and a comfortable local diner. The furniture shows its stories, the lighting is unpretentious, and there’s a warmth that invites lingering—whether you’re catching up with friends over a cold beer or enjoying a quiet moment with a morning coffee and sourdough toast. The menu echoes this honest simplicity, serving up hearty plates with a homey touch. From a generously portioned breakfast that fuels your day to a perfectly cooked steak paired with creamy mashed potatoes, the food feels sincere and satisfying, never trying too hard to impress but always hitting the spot.

There is a genuine human rhythm here, shaped by friendly servers who seem to know their regulars and newcomers alike, a crowd that’s as varied as it is welcoming, and nights punctuated by bursts of song and laughter. Whether you're stopping in for a quick drink, a filling meal, or settling in for an open mic or karaoke session, Trap Restaurant offers a rare blend of feel-good comfort and casual community spirit—making it a quietly cherished corner in the heart of Portland’s southeast side.

Great place. Looks really seedy from the outside but it's nice and spacious on the inside. They've got karaoke every night starting at 9pm and they close at 2am every day. The food is nice and the prices are fair. Service is always great and so are the other patrons. I've been here a few times and will continue. Friday's and Saturdays can seem a bit quiet, but just wait until 9pm when it gets busy, then it's a party.

She told me her name, but I can't remember it. I just remember she was a 49er fan like me. Great service. Really good breakfast but forgot to say no cheese.I don't eat cheese, but the food was still really good. Hash browns were cooked just right. And the bloody Mary hit the spot!

Just a fun little spot with decent food! It's a little shabby in the best ways I love a good dive bar! Wednesday has open mic night starting at 7 i think and karaoke everyday at 9. It's super fun and very friendly interesting crowd. I'm always happy with the meals the cook is great.

The last time I was in here, the front side was a general restaurant, and the back side, separated by a wall, was the bar. Now it's all one bar. Goid thing, no screaming critters. The service was good, and the eggs benedict better than expected. It's a neighborhood bar, not a destination bar.

Had a great night with my friends. Really enjoyed the fries & drink I got. Also at some point I did lose my phone & the bartender was so helpful, she tried looking for it with me. I did eventually find it. I’ll for sure come back, karaoke was so much fun.
